Hmmm, seems an awful lot like the start of the season.

When an unknown quantity steps up and provides solid at bats (Magruder), the team really feels the difference, and of course, Thome has been excellent, as has Omar.

I am pretty sure you won't be seeing Ricky G in the two spot the rest of the season. Even in the sixth spot, Ricky has left close to 10 men on base in the past five games.

I believe the start of this streak coincided with Ricky being taken out of the two spot. The 7th or 8th spot is the only place to hit this guy.

And if you had Castillo on this team playing instead of Ricky, we'd be talking playoffs. The reason I keep bringing this up is to combat the noise of retreat that many on fanhome have advocated.

This is not the time to retreat, it's the time to stay competitive and win. I believe it will be easier to get to the World Series this year (assuming we have one) then any other year....INCLUDING 97.
